Gel Melts™

Melt mineral oil based scented gel for melting into candle warmers for aroma. Scoop out a teaspoon at a time for low wattage warmers. When scent is gone allow to cool, peel and discard or renew with The Gel Candle Company™ fragrance oils. Lasts longer than traditional waxes and easy to peel.

Comparison of scented wax melts with scented gel melts™ for warmers

1. Composition & Texture
Wax Melts: Made from paraffin, soy, or beeswax with added fragrance oils. They have a solid, smooth, and sometimes soft texture.
Gel Melts™: Made from a blend of synthetic polymers and oils, creating a more jelly-like or rubbery consistency.
2. Scent Throw & Performance
Wax Melts: Generally provide a stronger and more consistent scent throw because they hold a high concentration of fragrance.
Gel Melts: Offer a slightly lighter scent throw but last longer because they don’t evaporate as quickly.
3. Longevity
Wax Melts: The scent usually lasts for 4–12 hours per cube, depending on the wax type and warmer temperature.
Gel Melts: Tend to last longer (sometimes up to 30 to 40 hours) but with a more subtle fragrance.
4. Cleaning & Maintenance
Wax Melts: Can be messy to clean since the wax needs to be removed manually. Some warmers require cotton balls or liners to soak up melted wax.
Gel Melts: Easier to remove as they stay more solidified and peel off cleanly without residue.
5. Safety & Melting Point
Wax Melts: Melt at a lower temperature, making them compatible with various warmers. However, wax can be spilled if tipped over.
Gel Melts: Have a higher melting point and stay somewhat solid, reducing the chance of spills.
6. Availability & Variety
Wax Melts: More widely available in various brands, scents, and formulas (natural or synthetic).
Gel Melts: Less common but often marketed as a cleaner alternative to wax.
7. Cost
Wax Melts: Typically cheaper and available in bulk.
Gel Melts: Can be slightly more expensive due to their longer-lasting properties.
Which One Should You Choose?
Choose wax melts if you prefer a stronger and richer scent with a wider selection of fragrances.
Choose gel melts if you want less mess, longer-lasting fragrance, and easier cleanup.

Why are gel melts™ for warmers better than wax?

Gel melts for warmers have some advantages over traditional wax melts, depending on what you're looking for in a home fragrance product. Here’s why they might be considered better:
1. Longer-Lasting Scent
Gel melts tend to hold fragrance longer than wax because they don’t evaporate as quickly. The gel material can retain essential oils and fragrance compounds more effectively, leading to a longer-lasting scent release.
2. No Messy Residue
Unlike wax melts, which can leave behind a stubborn residue in your warmer dish, gel melts often melt cleanly without the hassle of scraping out hardened wax.
3. Reusable in Some Cases
Some gel melts can be reused multiple times since they don’t evaporate completely. The scent may fade, but you can sometimes refresh them with a few drops of it's fragrance oil.
4. More Even Heat Distribution
Gel melts often melt more evenly compared to wax, which can sometimes pool or burn unevenly in a warmer. This means a more consistent fragrance release.
5. Less Risk of Overheating

Since gels have a different melting point than wax, they may be less prone to overheating and "burning off" too quickly.
That said, not all warmers are designed for gel melts, so it’s always good to check compatibility.
